The Parish The ecclesiastical parish of Aysgarth comprises the following villages; Aysgarth, Carperby, Newbiggin in Bishopdale, Thoralby, Thornton Rust and West Burton. It also serves the outlying farms in Bishopdale and Walden. Click here to see a Google Map of the area. The parish now forms part of the Penhill Benefice in which the following are included: Bolton-cum-Redmire: St Oswald Castle Bolton & St Mary the Virgin Redmire West Witton: St Bartholomew Wensley: Holy Trinity (redundant church open to visitors and a small number of services) Preston under Scar: St Margaret All these churches are in the Archdeaconry of Richmond and the Diocese of Ripon and Leeds. |
